@stickyJesus Read-Along Chapter 10

Can you count the cost? Can you count the cost when you come out of what @stickyJesus calls the cyber aisle?

Can you turn down what the world has to offer to serve Christ?

Can you count the cost it will take with time and energy to impact the world online for Christ?

Chapter 10 is one of the shortest chapters, but has so much “meat” into the things that should matter to Christians.

John 15:19 says:

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

Some of us tend to paraphrase it as – We are in the world, but not of the world.

Try explaining this to a teenager. My son has a good head on his shoulders and loves God, yet everyday as he goes into school he crosses that “cyber aisle” in the physical and let’s his peers know he serves Christ. He turns down what the world has to offer (sometimes :-)). He counts the cost.

It’s the same for us.

Do we represent Christ to our online friends with our words and actions? You know what I’m talking about. This may sting a bit but what about those that Tweet a scripture or an inspiring word that God showed them and then a few hours later they are showing a photo of a Margarita or their latest horoscope.

I encourage today to reflect Christ in all you do whether online or in the human form. We don’t know what our online friends may be going through but God does. We just have an incredible opportunity t o be the light in the darkness.

God will reward those that count His cost.

Jesus replied, “I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
