He is in Control of the Thermostat
I went to a “gold party” a few weeks ago and cashed in some gold worth $250. Some of my friends made out with even more. I asked the gentleman in charge of the money, “What do you do with the gold?” He said they melt it down to its purest form. So it got me thinking.
Fire does not destroy gold, it purifies it.
When God gets ready to polish His gold, he uses fiery trials.
These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. I Peter 1:7 NLT
In these trials, in these moments of bravery, we find character and commitment to God that builds our faith in knowing that he is in control of the thermostat.
When we find ourselves in these moments, we must know that he is serious about producing the change in our lives that will glorify him. We may not enjoy it, but we need them.
We spend time talking about what we want from God. The real issue is what He wants from us. Real faith doesn’t mean you won’t go through the fire. It means that when you pass through the fire, he will be with you. If you are in a trial, it is your faith on trial. That may be a bold statement but you will not become strong in faith until you venture the impossible.
But know this; faith cannot change your purpose. It only acts as an agent to assist in fulfilling the predetermined purpose of God.
In Chemistry the definition of an agent is a substance that causes a reaction.
Faith is a night watchmen sent to guard the purpose of God.
Grab a hold of that today as you walk in your moments.
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith... Hebrews 12:2 KJV
But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold. Job 23:10, ESV
