Be Brave in the Fight

Don't be Anxious

I love the words of Paul in Philippians 4:6-7:

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (NLT)

Don’t worry about anything! Don’t worry about the doctor’s report, don’t worry about the car breaking down, and don’t worry about the bills becoming due when you have no money in your account.  Don’t worry!

Easier said than done but, oh, so true. It’s not until you get to the second half of the sentence is when it becomes easier.  First Peter 5:7 says “Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares for you.” Do it! Cast all of them.  When you do, you will find worry and doubt subsiding.  This might not happen overnight because then the battle must be greater.  You have to trust God’s plan for your life which can be hard for a lot of us Type A’s that have to know the plan to build the map to find the answer. This is when our prayers need to kick in more than ever.  We begin to not pray at the mountain, but to it.

We can look at situations and circumstances and see fear and doubt in the midst of them or we can see them as opportunities; see them as part of the road map God has us on and truly thank Him for it.

Now mind you, that “Thanking” part may take a while.  It may seem like an eternity. The weight gets heavier and heavier. Keep casting, keep thanking, and keep praying, over and over and over.

Suddenly you will see verse 7 in action.  His incredible peace in the good report, peace in the situation, or even peace in your finances.

Peace.

And don’t try to understand it.  Like His Word says, you can’t.  It is an overwhelming feeling of joy. His peace has moved the mountain. His peace has made a way where there seemed to be no way. His peace overwhelms you with His incredible Love for you so that we can live in the last part of verse 7 - guarding our hearts and minds as you live in Him.

I encourage you today to be brave.  Fight for His promises on your life. Fight for His will to be done in your life. Fight for His Love to be constant around your life.

Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…” 1 Timothy 6:12

What are you fighting for today? What can I pray for you for?
